Your Face, in Action Figure Form: Hasbro’s New 3D-Printing Partnership

Your Face, in Action Figure Form- Hasbro's New 3D-Printing Partnership

Hasbro, the toy and games maker, is bringing your face to an action figure near you with its newest partnership. It’s using a new 3D-printing material and workflow from 3D-printer company Formlabs to create custom action figures at scale.

The project is called the Hasbro Selfie Series and makes it possible for fans to create “collector-grade” six-inch action figures that look like themselves.

The collaboration is the result of a quest that began in 2014 when Hasbro began using Formlabs 3D printers to prototype action figures lightning fast. The partnership has advanced from prototype to end-product production, allowing fans to create unique action figures based on famous characters from movies, television shows, and comics dating back to the ’80s.

“Fans are a very social group, and they want to share their fandom with others in unique ways,” said CEO at Formlabs. “One of the things we’ve seen is that fans want to immortalize themselves in plastic.”

How To Make Your Own Figure

To generate a figure, use the Hasbro Pulse app to scan your face, customize the action figure and hairstyle, and wait for the postman to bring you something spectacular: yourself but reduced in size and in plastic.

For the first time, Hasbro will be launching a one-of-a-kind experience that is only available on the Hasbro Pulse mobile app in fall 2022 (for fans aged 16 and older in the United States).

Sound like fun? We think so too.
