Khaby Lame Is The New King Of TikTok With 147 Million Followers

If you’re a fan of TikTok, then you’ve probably heard of Charli D’Amelio. She’s one of the most popular users on the app and has garnered millions of followers. But there’s a new kid in town, and he goes by the name Khabane “Khaby” Lame. Recently, it was reported that Khaby had surpassed Charli in terms of followers, with 149 million compared to her 146 million.

This news may come as a surprise to some, but it really shouldn’t be all that shocking. After all, Khaby is one of the most popular TikTok users in his own right and has been steadily gaining followers for months now.

Khaby Lame

Khaby Lame has been gaining 3 million followers each month, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, against Charli’s one million per month. Khaby created his TikTok account around the same time that Charli was named the most-followed TikTok user, which helped him achieve greater recognition.

Though he had no prior experience making vids, Khaby began uploading vids on TikTok in March 2020. His early videos showcased him dancing, viewing video games, and utilizing the app’s various effects; nevertheless, they didn’t get a lot of views. But, by November 2020, one of Khaby’s films went viral.

Khaby does not speak in any of his TikTok videos.; he merely reacts to what’s going on or makes funny faces. According to Khaby, his huge popularity is due to his physical comedy being understood by people from all over the world.

This reminds us of English comic actor, Charlie Chaplin who was also a comedian that didn’t need to speak to get his message across and make people laugh. Or, Mr. Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson, who is also a popular physical comedian.

So, Who Is Khaby Lame?

Khabane “Khaby” Lame., better known as Khaby Lame (Senegalese-born), is 22 years old and lives in Italy. After high school, he worked as a machine operator in Turin, Italy, but was laid off in March 2020. “The pandemic had just begun,” says Lame of his TikTok creation. Khaby says that he was inspired by other TikTokkers, such as Zach King and Awez Darbar. “I really like their work,” he said. “I watch a lot of their videos to see how they make their content and I try to do something similar.”

One of Lame’s most popular TikTok videos was him getting ready for the Grammy Awards, which evolves into a music video. Other videos of him show him doing things like playing the piano and singing, as well as doing magic tricks.
